Meet The Physician

Alan B Swearingen, MD

Dr. Alan B Swearingen, a native of San Antonio, is a double board-certified physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine, and is the founder of Mission Pain & Spine. He has undergone extensive training with experiences ranging from General Surgery residency to advanced musculoskeletal techniques. This has helped him develop into a skilled Pain Management Specialist who takes a team effort approach to care, working collaboratively with patients to determine the most effective treatments and therapies for optimal, sustained results.

Using a combination of compassion, an approachable personality, and a desire to form an open and trusting relationship with his patients, Dr. Swearingen focuses on educating and empowering patients while fostering a calm and relaxing office environment where everyone feels welcome and hopeful, knowing that they will receive a custom-tailored treatment plan that meets their unique needs.

  

Dr. Swearingen received his medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine in College Station, Texas. He trained in General Surgery at the University of Texas-Houston and completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine, where he earned his board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Swearingen went on to subspecialize in interventional Pain Medicine and completed his fellowship training back home at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Outside of the office, Dr. Swearingen has several hobbies and interests, including traveling, watching and participating in various sports, and spending time with his Pediatrician wife and their four children, as well as their local extended family. He is active in his local church and has provided medical care for many athletic events such as endurance races, marathons, and triathlons.
